Eira's Story-Butterfly Foundation -

Eira was born on January 8, 2015, and from the moment she entered the world, she was special. Diagnosed with Nicolaides–Baraitser syndrome, a neurological disability that made everyday tasks such as talking, walking, and eating normally impossible, Eira faced more challenges in her short life than most of us can imagine in an entire lifetime. Yet, despite her condition and countless hospital visits, Eira remained the happiest girl in the world. Her laughter was infectious, her smile a beacon of light in even the darkest times.

Eira loved three things more than anything else: traveling with her family with beach vacations being her favorite, being around people, and butterflies. When she was just two years old, her family took her on her first beach vacation to Clearwater, Florida. The moment the waves touched her tiny feet, Eira’s eyes sparkled with pure joy. From that point on, the beach became her absolute haven. She visited several beaches across the US, Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and more, each trip filling her with indescribable happiness and wonder.

Eira's love for people was boundless. She thrived in the company of friends and family, lighting up every room with her presence. Parties, get-togethers, and family gatherings were her favorite, and she made countless friends along the way. Eira’s joyous spirit and special charm touched everyone who met her, creating a vast circle of love and admiration around her

Above all, Eira adored butterflies. Their delicate beauty and graceful flight fascinated her. One memorable day, when her nurse, Ms. Kim, wore butterfly scrubs, Eira's eyes widened with delight. She grabbed onto those scrubs and held on tightly, her face glowing with happiness. Butterflies became a symbol of her spirit—free, beautiful, and full of life.

On March 10, 2023, Eira passed away, leaving a profound void in the hearts of those who loved her. However, she continues to live on in the cherished memories of the countless lives she touched. Eira taught us all an invaluable lesson: to live life to the fullest and not worry about the little things. Her carefree nature, her endless joy while sitting on a beach letting the waves wash over her feet, remains an inspiration

In honor of her beautiful soul, we established the Butterfly Friends Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to helping children with disabilities, especially those less fortunate, experience the same joy and wonder that Eira did. We aim to provide them with opportunities to enjoy life, to feel the magic of the ocean's waves, and to know that, like butterflies, they too can soar and find happiness.

Eira is in every butterfly we see, and she will forever live in our hearts. Through the Butterfly Friends Foundation, we ensure that her legacy of love, joy, and carefree living continues to inspire and touch the lives of many more children, just as she did.
